Great unit at nice resort
Date Of Visit - Mar 21, 2010
Date Of Review - Mar 31, 2010

Check in was quick, easy and the staff very helpful. We chose not to participate in the orientation or events at the resort. There was more than enough to do in the Myrtle Beach area.

Our visit occurred between March 21 - 28, 2010, early season for a beach vacation. On the other hand, we had mostly good weather to walk the beach and it was easy to get into the many good restaurants and activities. We recommend a visit to BrookGreen Gardens, which is huge and full of blooming flowers/ trees and varied sculptures.

Our unit was 1906 in the North Tower. It was a large two bedroom with a beautiful view of the ocean and beach. The balcony was very large and we enjoyed sitting outside in the warm afternoon sun. Everything worked in the unit and we were supplied with enough soap, paper towels, etc. for the week. We cooked several meals and found everything we needed to do so. Overall the unit was in good condition, as was the building. Others sections of the resort (South Tower) were being repainted on the outside and repaired (south pool).

We had good meals at Rossini's, Chestnut Hill, and a found a great salad bar at Ruby Tuesday's. We would recommend that Greg Norman's Australian Grill be skipped.

Check out was fast and easy.

Very nice resort

We stayed at Wyndham Seawatch Plantation in Myrtle Beach from March 20-April 3, 2009. We were in Villa I. The unit was quite nice, and the location was excellent. We could see the beach from our balcony. The master bedroom had a king-size bed with two night tables. There was storage space for clothing in a chest of drawers that the TV sat on. There was a HUGE shower; the sink had plenty of counter space with drawers and cabinets underneath. The only drawback was the size of the closet. It was tiny and had a safe on the floor which took up more than half the floor space. My coat closet at home is bigger than that closet was.

The second bedroom had two double beds and a nice-size closet. The second bathroom was across the hall from this bedroom and convenient for use by anyone in the unit.

The kitchen was well stocked. I was impressed with the pantry; I don’t think I’ve ever been in a time share that you didn’t have to look for places to store your food.

The LR and each of the BRs had flat screen TVs. Wireless internet was available at no cost.

Even though it wasn’t warm enough for use them, the outside pools and two lazy rivers looked very nice. We didn’t take advantage of any of the activities available. Beach towels were provided. The beach was very nice for walking and shelling.

Check-in went smoothly. We went to a timeshare presentation and got three $25 gift cards to use at local restaurants. Check-out was a drive through and took 1 minute. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Because we were off-season, the little store in the South Tower was not open and the restaurant was only open for breakfast.

Excellent place to stay

We enjoyed our stay at Seawatch. We stayed in the Villas I section which were refurbished in the winter. It was very nice inside with plenty of room for us. The rooms were very clean. The location was great as the ocean was warm and the pool was warm (very important for us). It is down the street from the Tanger outlets (no signs on the road to find the resort – the entrance road is directly across Arcadian Golf Club). They had a small restaurant onsite with reasonable lunch prices. Dinner seemed a bit pricey but it is comparable to other M.B. restaurants. You need a car as you need to drive to everything. Wireless internet available for $10/day or $20 for the week.

My wife and I just purchased our time-share in Hawaii in October of 2006. It's the new one in Honolulu. Anyway, we wanted to see other places in the U.S. and my wife has always wanted to go to Myrtle Beach. We used our Points and acquired a two bedroom unit at the Fairfield SeaWatch Plantation.

We flew into Myrtle Beach airport, which I highly recommend if you visit any of the resorts. It's easy to access the Grand Strand from the airport. The resort was easy to find off of Highway 17 with plenty of grocery stores very close including a Kroger and a Super WalMart that had groceries. Restaurant Row was right down the street with an unbelieveable amount of affordable restaurants. This resort is in North Myrtle Beach, so you have to drive south on the 17 to get to the main attraction area in South Myrtle Beach, but it's only about 10 minutes away.

We were given unit 1501 in the North Tower of the the resort.

WOW! There are only two time-share units in the north tower. It was on the 15th floor but a very nice two bedroom unit. The way the resort is laid out, all units have a very nice view of the beach, you can't lose. This unit had two balcony's, one for the main bedroom and one off the living room. We went with another couple and we never used our balcony because the four of us used the living room balcony. Our bedroom had a King bed and plenty of drawer and closet space. We had a private bathroom and it was very roomy. The second bedroom had two twin beds and access to the second bath from their room. There is also access to the second bath from the interior of the unit. Both baths had full cabinets and plenty of counter space and storage. The dining room was roomy as was the living room. The unit was clean and well kept. The maid stopped by on Wednesday to straighten up but that is the only day a maid comes by in the timeshare units. You don't get daily service. The restaurant downstairs was just okay, nothing to write home about but the food was just okay (why eat there when there are so many restaurants so close?)

The full kitchen was a dream to have. We cooked a couple of meals and had plenty of room in the frige for our drinks and food. We made sandwich's for the beach which was right THERE! No need for a long walk, the beach is right at the resort (of course). For alcohol, don't buy at the ABC store in the Kroger parking lot, they are very over-priced. I don't remember the name of the liquor store just south of there but look around, there are better prices elsewhere.

Over-all, I HIGHLY recommend this location, it was easy to find and very nice. Everyone was friendly and the unit was awesome!

This review is from my daughter on spring break with 5 other girls. Graduating from College.

They had a great time and thought the unit was very nice.

I pressed for the below criticisms.

The pools that they said were supposed to be heated, were very cold. (yes it is March)

My daughter stated that the unit was very clean, but thought the shower tiles could use replacing.

They actually cooked meals there a few days and said the kitchen was complete with everything they needed.

They were all thrilled to have this place to stay and all had a wonderful time and would definitely go back again.

A good exchange and great for the kids!

Date Of Review - May 29, 2006
Myrtle Beach is not our normal spot we go to for vacation, but we made this exchange as my husband had business in the area so we decided to bundle it into a vacation. We stayed Sunday through Friday, missing the weekend crowds after “Bike Week” (always the weekend after Mother’s Day and before “Black Bike Week” (Memorial Day weekend). Check-in was quick, the staff was friendly and we had our keys and were on our way to our villa in 10 minutes. We were asked to attend the Fairfield presentation which was 45 minutes and you could receive a $25 gift certificate, but did not attend.

There was ample parking close to the elevator and there were several luggage carts available for unloading. The only real problem we encountered was that the elevator was broken when we arrived and was not in and out of service for the first 3 days of our stay. The staff was very accommodating and offered to help us carry our things to the 6th floor!!! By a stroke of luck, the elevator worked when we carried the bulk of our luggage, however on 2 other occasions we had to ask for assistance carrying our double stroller and 10 month old twins up six flights of stairs. They offered to move us to another villa, however we decided to stay in ours and the elevator worked properly for the rest of our visit.

The resort itself is showing some age, however it is still well maintained. The unit (Villas II, #611) was clean, a few scuff marks on the wall, but in very good condition. We had a fabulous view of the lagoon, pools and the beach and particularly loved the very large balcony which opened from the living area and the master bedroom. We found the living area rather small – it was fine for our family (2 adults, 5 small children), but could get a little crowded if it were a group of adults. Wireless internet access was available in the unit for $5 per day or $25 for week, but in the Registration Building, wireless access was free. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for cooking (since all of our children are under the age of 5, we don’t eat out too much when we vacation). The only thing I missed was a 9x13 dish. The kitchen had an electric can opener, blender, hand mixer, and we especially enjoyed waking up to fresh coffee with the programmable coffee maker! While one of the previous reviewers noted limited counter space, I did not find this the case. The dining area was roomy and had a table with six chairs and placemats which were a nice touch. The table could have easily seated eight if you wanted to add two more chairs. We also found that there was plenty of closet and storage space for our “stuff” (With 5 small children, we don’t exactly travel lightly!). We especially appreciated the extra space in the laundry closet where we could stash all the beach paraphernalia (kites, buckets, boogie boards, etc.)

The master bedroom had a king bed with a very comfortable mattress and plenty of extra pillows. We did have to call the front desk to have them deliver sheets for the pull out couch bed (which was surprisingly comfortable!!!) and after 30 minutes of no sheets we finally just went to get them ourselves. While the master bath did not have a large Jacuzzi tub, we were surprised to find a large double shower! We were disappointed that there was no countertop in the master bath, just a pedestal sink. There was a small medicine cabinet to put toiletries, but we basically had to live out of our toiletry bags since there was just no place to put anything.

At check in, we received an activity schedule for the week which included some free activities for the kids and adults as well as some activities with small fees ranging from $3-$10. We were unable to attend the Welcome Orientation and Morning Mixer because it was for adults only. Free coffee, juice, doughnuts muffins served! The kids loved the pools and the two lazy rivers. One small pool and hot tub was just below our villa so we found that very convenient for quick swimming outings with the kids. Inner tubes are provided for free for the lazy rivers or you can use your own flotation device. The beach was great and while we brought our own umbrellas and chairs, you could rent two chairs and an umbrella for $30 a day. There is one restaurant on site and while the food was mediocre, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to the needs of our large family.

We would definitely come back to the Fairfield Seawatch Plantation again as a family. Our kids had a great time. This would not be my top choice for a getaway with my spouse, but it’s a great family vacation with plenty to keep the kids entertained. We give it a 7.5, but would have rated it an 8 were it not for the three days of elevator problems.

Excellent location and well appointed units

I've been to Fairfield Seawatch six times. Obviously, I like it here or I wouldn't keep coming back.

I stayed in the North Tower, Unit 1602. As usual, I enjoyed my stay here. My unit was on the far side of the North Tower, but I still had a great view of the beach and the ocean. The unit I stayed in was well maintained and may have recently been refurbished because the paint and wallpaper looked new. Besides its oceanfront location, this resort has 5 outdoor pools, 2 lazy rivers and two indoor swimming pools. Also, Barefoot Landing and Broadway on the Beach are nearby.

Despite being so close to everything, Fairfield Seawatch Plantation is located in a relatively quiet, unincorporated section of the Grand Strand in between North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach. Early May generally has warm weather but the beaches are uncrowded at this time of year. Each year the Myrtle Beach area hosts "biker week" starting on the second Saturday of May. I managed to book my vacation the week before "biker week."

I love the location of this resort. Its oceanfront location is outstanding. There is plenty to do in the M.B. area as well as at the resort. I have the option of being as energetic or as lazy as I please and I still have a good time either way. Two activities that I went to and enjoyed were the Brookgreen Gardens (about 20 miles south of MB) and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans minor league baseball team. Brookgreen Gardens are a series of statue and flower gardens carved out of the Huntington Plantation. It is a huge place and all the gardens are beautiful and the tickets are about $12/person. The MB Pelicans are good, clean fun on the cheap. Tickets are cheap and the stadium is right next to Broadway on the Beach which is a large tourist center and shopping mall.

Overall, I had a great time. I got to run on the beach everyday and have a week of fun and relaxation at a luxurious resort. Life is good! I give this resort a 9.5. I definitely plan to return again next year.

My family and in-laws (5 adults, 1 child) stayed in the Penthouse suite (South Tower, Unit 1605) from 13-20 November 2004. We've been an owner at SeaWatch since 2001 and have stayed at the resort frequently, but this is the first chance we've had to stay in the Penthouse.

The unit has a total of four bedrooms split between two floors...1 Master suite with King bed and full bath; a second bedroom on the first floor with King bed with access to a separate bathroom; and two bedrooms on the second floor, both having 2 Queen beds per room. There is another full bathroom on the second floor. So, in short, there's no shortage of sleeping accommodations in this unit.

Since bedroom space took up so much of the unit, the kitchen was extremely small, and the dining area/living room spaces were a bit cramped, even with only a total of 6 folks in the area at the same time. The kitchen contained an adequate supply of cooking utensils, but countertop space was very minimal. There was a glass top dining table with 6 chairs, but as I said, it's a pretty tight fit. There's a semi-circular sofa in the living room that can fit three comfortably, and four at max. The living room has a 37" TV, a VCR, a DVD, and a stereo system that's wired throughout the entire suite.

Each bedroom has a 15" TV, and there's even a 13" TV in the master bathroom.

There's more than enough closet space throughout the unit, but the dresser in the master bedroom has only about a foot of clearance between it and the bed, so it's a bit tight there as well.

The unit is beginning to show a bit of age, but the furniture, appliances, TVs, etc were all in above average condition. There were quite a few dings and scuffs in the drywall and floor boards, but nothing out of the norm. The balcony was absolutely awesome as it covered the area of the entire first floor (probably about 25 feet long). It had four very comfortable chairs and one lounge chair, and since the unit is 16 floors up, you can see the ocean horizon for miles and miles. It made the 6:30AM wake up for sunrises a pleasant experience each morning.

The staff was its normal friendly group and check in/out was quick and pleasant. We took the "sales pitch" on the third afternoon of our visit. It was pretty low key, but as soon as you mention that you purchased Fairfield points via resale, their demeanor instantly changes. For our 60 minutes of timeshare talk, we were given discounted tickets to the Alabama theater for their Xmas show, called "One". Tix are normally $39 for adults, but we got 2 for 1 tix for $26, and then each additional adult was $25 per person. The show was outstanding, so I'd highly recommend it if you're in the area during the holiday season.

The resort pools, hot tubs, and lazy rivers were undergoing the normal seasonal work. Both lazy rivers were shut down for the entire week. Pools between the North and South towers were being drained and cleaned, so for the first part of the week we used the North tower pools, then alternated during the second half of the week. At least one pool at both towers was heated, and once the end of hurricane season hits (defined as end of November by SC code), they enclose one pool and spa under each tower with glass. During the week we were there, temperatures were a bit below average during the first half and back at normal by the end of the week. Mid 50s during the day, mid 30s at night, which gradually warmed to upper 60s/mid 40s at the end. So, needless to say, there was a lot of running between pools, hot tubs, and elevators!

I'd give the unit and resort a rating of 9.0 out of 10. As I mentioned the resort is gradually beginning to show its age, but that's expected for anything that's direct oceanfront. The location is ideally situated, more or less in the midway point between Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach. Everything you need is less than a mile away at the WalMart Supercenter that's open 24 hours a day. Restaurants of all kinds are also along the entire Route 17 strip. Sea Watch and Myrtle Beach continue to be one of my favorite places to visit, and it continues to deserve the Gold Crown rating from RCI.

We purchased Fairfield in April without ever staying at a Fairfield property. We had thoroughly researched their system and liked the flexibility that their points system offered. We are used to staying oceanfront in Virginia Beach and staying onsite Disney in Orlando at Disney's Old Key West resort.

Since we were too late to book a summer 2004 week ourselves, we booked this August week by trading points with another Fairfield member who couldn't use the reservation. I was a bit worried because we were booked in Villa II unit 609, the farthest back villa. When I spoke with the resort they said it was an ocean front unit, but when we looked at the resort map, we saw that there were several pools and a lagoon in front of it. Well, I didn't need to worry. As soon as we opened the door to our unit we were able to see the ocean perfectly. We also had a wonderful view of the two pools in front of Villa II.

The unit was beautiful. I have seen bigger two bedroom units, but again, this is ocean front. Also, even though it was smaller than other two bedroom units we have seen, there was still plenty of space for our group of six. Our unit was a sleep eight. I don't know if I would put 8 adults in it. We had 3 adults and 3 children.

The kitchen area was small, but had adequate counter space. There was a full size refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, full stove/oven, and dishwasher. We cooked in all week except for one dinner we had out. The first bathroom had plenty of room and lots of counter space. It had a full tub and shower. The dining room was a bit tight and was situated between the kitchen area and living room area. The first bedroom had two full size beds with a small television. There was plenty of walking room in there.

The master bedroom had a king size bed. The walking area in the room was a bit tight, although the balcony and ocean front view made it easy to deal with it. The master bathroom had no tub. Instead it had a huge shower stall with two shower heads on both sides. There was no counter or storage space in the master bathroom. There was only one shelf over the pedestal sink and one small medicine cabinet on the side wall. The commode was in a separate small room inside the master bath for separate privacy, but my closet at home is bigger than this room.

The balcony was very roomy and extended across the living room and master bath area. It had 4 chairs and as I have said before it had a wonderful view.

We were here for the beach, so we didn't utilize the activities much. The list had plenty of them though. A definite MUST is the Murder Mystery night for those over 21. It was only $10 per person and included very heavy appetizers which you were easily able to make a meal out of. The activity staff was very friendly.

The beach was very narrow. At high tide there was very little beach showing. Since we hate trudging through lots of sand, this was perfect for us. The lifeguards rent 2 chairs with 1 umbrella for $25.00 per day. They also give weekly discounts. We already had our chairs from previous beach visits and my mom picked hers up from Wal-Mart for $10.00. There was a Super Wal-Mart very close to the resort. We checked in on a Sunday and got to Wal-Mart around 7:00 PM. Of course, it was very crowded. We also found that it was sold out of some basic items and supplies were very low on others. You could tell that the store had been raided by tons of vacationers.

While here we also got a chance to see a 4 bedroom penthouse unit in the South Tower. I wasn't impressed because it was rather on the small size, but it had a great ocean front view. We didn't do the Fairfield tour, but drove to Ocean Blvd and Westwinds on our own. We were able to see 2 bedroom units at both places. The units in both places were larger than our unit at Seawatch.. Westwinds major negative to me was the very small outdoor pool. The major positive was that all units are oceanfront and you walk out of the resort and you are on the beach.

Ocean Blvd's units were the largest. The pool area was beautiful. Biggest negative here is that it is across the street from the beach. Also, depending on where your unit is located you might have a walk to the elevator. The views of the beach were great though, even with it being across the street. If the units in the new tower are as nice as these, then I think it will be very hard to get a unit here. We also saw a 3 bedroom which was very roomy.

I do not think you can go wrong with any of these resorts though and I look forward to many years of vacations at all three of them. I would rate Seawatch a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10, only because the units were the smallest of the 3 resorts.

We just returned from one week at Seawatch and enjoyed our visit. The location of this resort was perfect---away from the crowds, but close to everything.

We were very happy with the Myrtle Beach area and there were several activities for everyone in the group.

On the positive side:

This resort had a great deal of activities. All the pools and lazy rivers were clean and lots of fun. The Fairfield SeaWatch staff was one of the nicest, friendliest group that I have ever worked with. They were very committed to making sure you had a great vacation. On the negative side--Shirley with the SeaWatch activities group was very rude and only replied to my husband in I in one word answers. It was amazing----We are from New Jersey---and I think someone forgot to tell her the war was over.

On the negative side:

Our 2 bedroom unit was starting to show it's age. It was very clean, but could use a makeover. The elevators in the towers were always busy and sometimes dirty. It seems that there are two resorts within this one resort. Fairfield Seawatch (where we stayed) includes the villas and some sections of the towers. Most of the units in the tower were simply SeaWatch Resort. Where this became a bit confusing is that some of the facilities you could not charge things to your villa (i.e, tiki bar, restaurant) if you were at Fairfield Seawatch. Also, the exercise room was for Seawatch resort----so if you were associated with Fairfield Seawatch---you had to pay a fee to use the room. Dogs were allowed in SeaWatch but not Fairfield SeaWatch.

All in all this is a great resort. I would rate it an 8.00.

During our visit, we toured the new Marriott OceanWatch resort. WOW ! I would rate that resort an 11.00. Next time, we will definitely stay there.
