Our Personal Story – 48 Years of Pure Aruba Madness with
Crazy DrChris!
Buckle up — because this isn’t your average “how we started renting” story. We (Dr. Chris & Maureen Cimmino) got whacked upside the head with the Aruba love bug in 1978! We stumbled off the plane onto the scorching tarmac and — BAM! — smiling Aruban ladies in wild colorful dresses shoved fresh flowers in our faces and snapped pictures like we were rock stars. Maureen looked at me with those big eyes and yelled, “We’re never leaving this crazy island!” She was 100% right. We were hooked from minute one!
Back then Aruba was raw, untamed, and absolutely glorious. Divi Village? Didn’t exist yet! We were roughing it at the old Divi Casitas right on the beach. Meat was so scarce we dragged a 50-pound cooler all the way from New York like lunatics. Grocery shopping turned into a full-contact sport — we’d charge into Pic & Pay armed with a box cutter, slashing open cardboard boxes like pirates hunting for toilet paper and canned ham. No air-conditioned rental car, windows down, island music blasting, sand in our hair… pure paradise pandemonium! And we freaking loved it!
Fast-forward through 48 insane years: we’ve been returning like clockwork, clocking an average of four months every single year on the island. In the early 80s we bought our first timeshare, then went big at the shiny new Divi Village Beach & Golf Resort when it opened in 1993. Today we own the equivalent of 100 Studio Weeks — which officially makes us the largest active point owners at Divi Village who actually rent our units out. Boom!
Then 2023 hit. Our original 40-year contracts were about to expire and the whole family went nuts: “Dad!!! You CANNOT sell Paradise!!!” At 72 years young (but feeling like a hyper 25-year-old the second I hit Eagle Beach), I looked at Maureen and said, “Hell no — we’re doubling down!” So we renewed and extended everything for another 40+ years. Aruba is now officially locked in for our kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and probably a few future generations we haven’t met yet. Family legacy on steroids!
Somewhere in the middle of all this chaos my cousin Crazy Eddie slapped the nickname Crazy DrChris on me… and it stuck like glue. After years of solid rentals on the big fancy platforms, we finally said “Enough with the ridiculous fees!” and started renting direct to you — same beautiful, spotless studios (king bed + queen sleeper sofa, full kitchen with dishwasher, huge balcony, blazing fast Wi-Fi, plus all the resort perks) at way better prices because there’s no greedy middleman taking a fat slice!
This isn’t some side gig for us. Every single booking helps keep our family’s slice of heaven alive while letting other awesome families create their own wild Aruba memories.
