Enjoy a Prime Season week in Palm Desert at Marriott’s Desert Springs Villas II resort!

Located in the same block as the JW Marriott Palm Desert Resort and Spa, Marriott’s Desert Springs Villas are situated along the two JW Marriott’s golf courses on the extensive 400-acre resort complex and offers spacious accommodations at a fraction of the hotel cost. Each family-friendly, luxury Desert Springs Villas II villa offers more than 1400 SF of space: a combination of a one-bedroom villa plus a guest suite (with a separate entrance and connecting doors) offering one large, two-bedroom villa--or a one-bedroom unit plus a guest suite lock-off (for more guest privacy). We and our kids both love them having their own space in the guest suite, which provides them their own space to hang out, keeping the main living area clutter-free. (It also works well for families—or golf buddies—who want to travel together but also have their own space.)

Overall, the full villa offers two King sized beds plus two sofa beds (one in the guest suite) to accommodate a total of 8 guests. The villa features also two full bathrooms (one in guest suite), a large living room area, a large dining table, a full kitchen (plus a kitchenette in the guest suite), an in-unit washer and dryer, three LCD televisions (with premium channel programming), a DVD player, separate balconies (upper) or patios (lower) off the main living room and guest suite, and free wireless internet. Most units offer a golf-course view (some include water views). It’s essentially a luxurious home-away-from-home with concierge service and a 24-hour front desk for check-in and questions, etc.

Marriott’s Desert Springs Villas resort includes 7 heated pools, outdoor jacuzzis, a wading pool with a dedicated kid’s water play area, and a children’s playground. Additional fun activities for the kids (and adults) include ping pong tables, climbing wall, basketball half-courts, and shuffle board courts. There is also an exercise room with cardiovascular machines and free weights. The activity center offers additional activities, such as arts and crafts classes, a small movie theater, gaming stations, a teen hang-out room, and entertainment. For additional fees, the sister resort of JW Marriott Palm Desert Resort & Spa offers additional amenities to Desert Springs Villa II guests. There is a 20-court (hard court, clay, and grass) tennis facility with top-notch instructors, and a pro shop. For those who like golf, JW Marriott offers two 18-hole championship golf courses, a driving range, and miniature golf for the kids. And for those craving relaxation, JW Marriott offers a 38,000 SF luxury, full-service, European spa with a separate, saltwater pool. Family-friendly (free) activities at JW Marriott include visiting their parrots (some talk!) and boat rides on the lake (where you can see their black and white swans).

Casual dining at Desert Springs Villas is available at Water’s Edge Bar & Grill, a poolside restaurant; snacks and Starbucks can be purchased at the marketplace, and with drinks to unwind available at the poolside bar. Additional restaurants and bars are located at the JW Marriott Resort (some are lake-front). For those who prefer to dine privately, one can order delivery from area restaurants or pick up premade food, groceries, and alcohol at Ralph’s supermarket, across the street from the JW Marriott resort. Guest can use shared BBQ facilities, which are adjacent to the villas.

Off-site activities in the area include the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, with rotating cable cars that take you near the top of Mount San Jacinto (elevation 8500 feet) in 10 minutes. In addition to breathtaking views, the Tramway provides a dramatic temperature change (as much as 40 degrees), which often offers one of our family’s favorite activities: the ability to enjoy sledding, cross-country skiing, and throwing snowballs in the morning, followed by basking in the sun at one of the resort’s pools in the afternoon. Other family-friendly activities include The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens, The Children’s Discovery Museum, desert jeep rides, hiking to a palm tree oasis and/or waterfall, hot air ballooning, Boomers miniature golf and fun center, Palm Springs’ Villagefest (Thursday evening street market), etc. The Coachella Valley area is also famous for world class shopping (e.g. El Paseo Shopping District in Palm Desert), art galleries, theaters, musical events, and great restaurants.

Marriott’s current rate for Desert Springs Villas II 2-bedroom averages over $950 per night (with taxes and fees) for these dates. The nightly rate for a JW Resort room (for just two) starts at over $700 per night (with taxes and resort fees). There are no additional taxes or fees by booking Marriott’s Desert Springs Villas II with owners like us (unless your payment option charges a service fee). Note that if you plan to bring a car, there is a published $30/day parking fee for renters.
