Enjoy one of the finest resorts on Maui during the peak of whale season. Whale watch from your lanai, from shore, or go out on an unbelievable whale watch trip to get up close and personal to the large population of Humpback whales that return to Maui each winter. Great snorkel trips leave directly from Kaanapali Beach (walkable) or from Mala Ramp, a short 10-minute drive near the Safeway in Lahaina. Famed Black Rock at the Sheraton is only a 10-minute walk where great snorkeling and Green Sea Turtles are commonly seen along the jetty. This is one of Marriott's premier resorts, assuring you will not be disappointed. Rooms are well-appointed, but if you want to prepare a big meal, there is a full communal kitchen available. Better yet, cook your meal beachside at one of many barbecues located throughout the property. Whalers Village is about a 10-minute walk where you will find several outstanding restaurants (Hula Grill, Leilani's, or Monkeypod are among the best on Kaanapali Beach) More great restaurants are located in Lahaina near the Safeway, 10 minutes drive. (Mala Tavern, Star Noodle are great.) Get a water-side table at Mala and see turtles from your table. We have owned here at the Maui Ocean Club for over 20 years and visit at least twice a year.
