Longtime owner at this resort and very longtime TUG member. Please no solicitations for anything but renting this unit. It's so relaxing at this location and I love the scent of the oaks. I requested a unit facing the oak trees (no guarantee; arrive as close to 4 pm for best units); it probably has a nice view of the hills behind it. If it's downstairs (I think I requested that too) you'll have a patio, upstairs unit has a nice balcony. The decor is CA Mission. The unit has a wonderful pool and whirlpool, but also access to the club right across the street with a lap pool, gym, tennis courts, locker rooms, etc. (Hilton took over and I'm posting at night, so sorry I can't guarantee that they still allow access to that club, please call to verify.) They used to have free tennis lessons; don't know if that still holds, but I saw a lot of kids taking advantage of that. There is as near a perfect community park possible right next door; sometimes they hold concerts at the gazebo. Not much on nearby restaurants; you'll have to go into downtown Ramona for a decent variety, however close down the road is a golf course with a very nice restaurant that has possibly the BEST salads in all San Diego. San Diego Back County is a bit of a secret gem--there is so much to discover...wineries, farms with roadside stands, gold mines, fun miner town of Julian 25 min away and great for strolling, Lake Cuyamaca with boat rentals about 20 min away, casinos within a half hour's drive have gambling and concerts, google San Diego Backcountry for more ideas. For a day trip, drive down to coastal San Diego, a giant playground where the fun and fascinating things to do are endless.
