We rent our timeshare at the Royal Solaris in Cabo for $300 per week . You can choose any week of the year and your arrival and departure dates can be any day of the week. You can rent two units during the same week if you want to invite family or friends to join you. Our studio unit has a balcony, with your choice of a king size bed or two double beds, a small kitchenette with a mini-frig that is stocked daily with beer, soda, and water bottles. Each unit has a Murphy bed, so the king size bed units sleep 4 and the two double bed units sleep 6. You will have to pay for an all-inclusive meal plan for all of your meals and drinks (alcoholic beverages included). There are buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but we prefer the sit down meals for dinner. Besides the buffets, there is a poolside grill and a pizza "hut" as well as a swim up bar. You can get up to 20% discount for paying for the all inclusive in advance. Children 0 - 4 are free with paying adults, children 5 - 16 have a reduced rate. There are fun activities all day long at the pool. Each evening is a different show in the theater. We give Sunset Beach a 10—simply outstanding. Service is impeccable. The junior suite is quite adequate for occupancy of two [2 queen beds]—it is spacious; the balcony with ocean view allows for gorgeous views and whale watching; the kitchen with, its full size refrigerator, is quite adequate for cooking in [who needs a full size oven while on vacation?]; there is plenty of closet and drawer space; and the stall shower is large with great water flow. A lighted magnifying cosmetic mirror is useful to have. The grounds are immaculate with beautiful landscaping, fountains, pond for several swans, and a special area for a half-dozen flamingos. For those inclined to walk/get exercise, it certainly is possible to walk from ocean front to the main building up the hill, using the narrow roadways or the staircases built into the hillside. There are a number of pools, each with its own ambience, from the main pool just off the ocean and beach to the sky top pool. There are book exchanges at a number of the pools, as well as swim-up bars. The restaurants—there are three, not counting poolside bars and the food hall with a variety of cuisines—offer a variety of interesting dishes at each and span the price range from moderate to expensive. Service at each is excellent. There are a number of themed buffets each week, each with a large variety of dishes to taste. The activities include cooking demonstrations as well as beer/wine/tequila tasting. Cooking classes are popular and often fill up; the booze classes carry a fee. I recommend signing up for the classes you want right after you check in and have a room number—classes fill up fast. There is an excellent gym with many treadmills and other machines to use. There is a small grocery store and deli with great baked goods. Prices are somewhat higher on some items than in town, but I think that is to be expected. There is something to be said for the convenience of being able to get basics without having to go into town or to Wal-Mart. Carts are used at Sunset Beach for on-grounds transport. We have found the cart system well organized with radio dispatch—we have frequently called for a cart from our room and the cart arrived before we could even get out of the room and down the stairs. Drivers were always friendly and helpful and fluent in English. We saw no expectation for a tip each time—there is a box labeled for cart driver tips right at the checkout desk. There is currency exchange at the front desk with the fair exchange rate of the time, and no service fee. The free shuttle provides transport into town from 10A to 10P—this can present a problem if one needs to be in town earlier in the morning, and for that there are taxis. The shuttle goes to Pueblo Bonito Rose from where it is an easy walk into town or to the mall and marina. The law prohibits the resort from offering transport anywhere other than between sister resorts—thus avoiding competition with the local taxi drivers. One cannot use the shuttle if carrying luggage or bags of groceries, again the issue of taxi competition. But, other than these limitations, the shuttle provides a way into town and back without the expense of a taxi. And Rose, and its sister resort Blanco [Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos], are right on the lively and swimmable Medano Beach.

Super Presidential units are rare and hard to find. Kitchen is equipped with stove, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. One king in the master with full ensuite (soaker tub and separate shower, double sinks). Two queens in the other bedroom, plus full ensuite. There is a comfortable queen sofa in the living room. This is a Super Presidential suite (room 1972) - sleeps 8 - 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom. The difference between this and a presidential suite is the extra large, 900 sq. ft balcony with full size jacuzzi. Super Presidential units are rare and hard to find. Kitchen is equipped with stove, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. One king in the master with full ensuite (soaker tub and separate shower, double sinks). Two queens in the other bedroom, plus full ensuite. There is a comfortable queen sofa in the living room. The 2 bedrooms are on opposite sides of the unit for maximum privacy. Both bedrooms and the living room have access to the massive balcony. The unit is 1600 sq. ft, plus a 900 sq. ft balcony with a private hot tub that accommodates 8. There is a 180 degree view of the ocean from this unit with no obstructions. I highly recommend a tour of El Arco (usually about $15/person) and a whale watching tour if the whales are still migrating at that time of the year. Shuttle service from the airport to the hotel – needs to be booked in advance at a fee of $27/person each way (it is free with some of the all-inclusive options). There are 3 different all-inclusive options, all offering different things. If you are interested in hiring a private car instead of using the hotel shuttle (better option and less money – I think we pay $85 each way – faster, direct service as well), I can provide you with contact information for a good company we use.
