Lake Placid, New York is one of only three sites in the world to hold two Winter Olympic Games, in 1932 and 1980. The Olympic Center and Olympic Speed Skating Oval are a 5-minute walk. The Main Street shopping district is a 10-minute walk. Whiteface Mountain Ski Area, with the tallest vertical drop in the East, is a 15-minute drive.
