Things To Do/General Tips

Organize Your 7 Day Maui Vacation This a an article written by Tugger Bob Cohen that gives tips to 1st time (and returning) vacationers to Maui. Thanks Bob!.  3/17/02
Road to Hana and 7 Pools - Be sure you continue on past Hana to see the 7 Pools.  5/30/99
Road to Hana/WindSurfers - East of the town of Paia on the Hana Highway is Ho'okipa State Park, which is one of the premier windsurfing spots in the world. There is usually a group of windsurfers practicing, and you can sit for a long time just watching them.  10/27/99
Road to Hana- A Long Drive - If you do the Road to Hana drive, leave early in the morning, if you plan to sight see a lot along the way, you don't want to drive back in the dark, It can be a scary experience.  10/27/99
Maui Ocean Center - Visited The Maui Ocean Center and watch skindivers feed the Sting Rays & Sharks, usually 1pm for Rays & 3-5pm Sharks.  10/27/99
Warren & Annabelle's Magic
Front Street, Lahaina. Dinner Show and Magic. This is a great show and Not your typical magic show.
10/20/02
Maui Myth - There is a new theater attraction in Lahaina called the Maui Myth and Magic Theatre. The program now showing is Ulalena. It's about the history of Hawaii. It has live music, acting, singing, dancing and acrobatics. I expected to enjoy it, because friends told me I would. Nevertheless, I was still pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I haven't seen Cirque du Soleil (sp?), but this must have been influenced by that.
The theatre is next door to Ace Hardware, near Starbucks and the new Foodland market.
10/27/99
Luau's - We went last November after trying the Aston Wailea luau. The Old Lahaina is in new facilities on the North end of town opposite the Cannery mall. Easy parking right on their own lot. You are greeted with a fresh flower lei and then have you picture taken. You are then escorted to your table so you know where to sit. Drinks are from many bars on the edge of the seating area or you can sit down and they will offer you some. The grounds have a central stage area with the sunset behind it. The entire grounds are on the beach but the luau is not offically on a beach. All of the walks are paved. Plenty of handmade crafts on exhibit and for sale.
Each section has their own buffet line with pig from the IMU and all of the usual trimmings.
The show is a musical history of Hawaii and quite dramatic. I think it was about 2.5 hours from drinks to end of show.
I have now been to 3 on Maui and my favorite is still the Aston because it was smaller. Better food and more informal.
10/27/99
Aquarium - The Aquarium was fantastic with the one on one legal meeting with green turtles since there is a $5K fine for contact with one in the ocean or shore.  10/27/99
Dolphins - 6AM on the beach near Prince Maui Resort, play with the dolphins that swim ashore to romp with the employees who play & feed them.  10/27/99
Drive E O Valley - Drive E O Valley at the end of Lahaina (what a view & the thrill of a one lane bi-directional road).
Note: Most car rental contracts don't allow this trip! I was glad I drove it from the Lahaina end (we were on the inside edge of many of the turns). Are you sure you want to do this? Loved it but was glad when it was done.
10/27/99
Maui Costco - There is a Costco discount store in Kahului, Maui. Near the airport. 5/30/99
